Create a five to ten-second ad for that brand. The client wants you to take their existing packaging, animate it in a creative and expressive way, and composite it onto their real-world packaging.

I chose to create a short ad for Spark Amps, focusing on their Spark X You campaign, which allows users to customize their amp's grill design.

Project Brief

Initial Animations

The initial animations were made to highlight the versatility and portability of Spark Amps and their designs. With this, I aimed to create designs that matched the locations of the footage, while also showcasing the various design options available.

Original Plates

Like I mentioned, I really wanted to focus on the portability of the amp for the shoot. I tried to add as much variety in the locations as I could to show off the versatility, but also the ability to use aoutside and for any situation

The Process

Overall, the process consisted of taking a 2D animation and compositing it onto the plates I shot. I did this by using a mix of camera tracking, Corner pin tracking, and rotoscoping to make the main composite.

Adapting Along The Way

Because I was working with multiple different plates, I was bound to run into some issues along the way. The biggest issue that I ran into was the exposure on the beach plate. The exposure in the background was way too high and made the background look unappealing. To fix this, I did a sky replacement, where I found a picture of a different, unexposed sky picture, and added it into the background to make it feel like it was the true background. I did this using a mix of chroma keying, color correcting, and rotoscoping.

Final Touches

To finish off the composite, I added some camera stabilization to make the plate feel less jittery. I also added some final color correcting and the final logo animation to complete the project.
